2024 Annual Meeting & Picnic
Once the presentation and business meeting were concluded, the picnic was in full swing. We added a bit of background music this year, with the assistance of our good neighbor (and photographer) Brett Binns.
A wonderful assortment of pot luck sides, salads and desserts was enjoyed by everyone.
Thanks to all for your delicious contributions!
Vice President and local “Road Warrior” Tom McKeag explained why the unpaved section of Grand Marsh Bay (or the Orphan Road, as it’s better known) is a critical emergency route for all residents of the peninsula, no matter where they live.
Tom said it takes $5000-6000 per year to keep that road in good repair, and made a plea for donations, since the former Road Fund is now completely exhausted.
Please keep those dollars rolling in!
Our outstanding Prep and Clean-up Crew came through again with everything a great picnic could wish for—including beautiful fresh floral centerpieces for every table—along with all the other details they managed so well. All of the flowers were donated from member gardens.
It appears the floral arrangers had a blast!
We had a great turnout for the 2024 Annual Meeting & Picnic—71 people attended!
Two presenters joined us this year:
Josh McIntyre, Gouldsboro Town Manager, explained the challenges of managing the Town budget, and how each of the expense items relate to one another, and to all of us.
Donna Harmon and Jackie Johnston spoke to us about the great work that the Schoodic Food Bank is doing, and about their plans for expansion, which is very much needed.
After the presentations, our Annual Board meeting was held, with reports from the President, Treasurer, and Webmaster.
A show-of-hands vote unanimously elected the 2023 Board members to extend their terms for another year.
Pierre Vauthy and Patrick Weaver masterfully manned the grills, providing burgers and hot dogs for the hungry crowd.
